Makai Ashton-Langford to transfer from Providence

Ashton-Langford appeared in 63 games in two years for the Friars.

Just one day after news broke that Providence had landed UMass transfer point guard Luwane Pipkins, Friars guard Makai Ashton-Langford announced his intentions to transfer from the university.

An ESPN Top 100 recruit coming out of high school, Ashton-Langford originally commited to UConn, but reopened his recruitment after the Huskies fired assistant coach Glen Miller, and was pegged as an heir apparent to the claim of next great Providence point guard.

For whatever reason, things just never seemed to click, as Ashton-Langford averaged just four points and two assists per game in his two seasons as a Friar.

Ashton-Langford has two seasons of eligibility remaining and will not be able to transfer within the Big East, per conference regulations.
