Ahead of their anticipated matchup on Saturday, the Marquette Golden Eagles and Villanova remain fixtures in this week’s polls.
The Golden Eagles sit 9th in the Coaches Poll and 10th in the AP Top 25. MU defeated the Butler Bulldogs for the first time at Hinkle Fieldhouse since Dawgs joined the conference, and did so in very impressive fashion. Their efforts kept them where they were last week in both polls, and they’ll certainly have a shot now to do some climbing with two games this week, including that aforementioned showdown with Nova along with a showdown with Shamorie Ponds and the St. John’s Red Storm.
Speaking of the Wildcats, they remained where they were at in the AP Top 25, 14th to be precise, but made a one-spot jump in the Coaches Poll to 13th. The Cats took care of business this week, going 2-0 against the DePaul Blue Demons and the Georgetown Hoyas. Jay Wright’s squad is 9-0 in Big East play and will be hoping to keep that ball rolling this week with that battle against Marquette as well as a home tilt against the Creighton Bluejays.
Unsurprisingly, these two teams remain the only Big East teams to receive votes.
