The Big East’s mainstays in the college basketball rankings remained where they were after this last week of action.
The Marquette Golden Eagles went 1-1 against the St. John’s Red Storm and the Villanova Wildcats. For their efforts this week, the Golden Eagles are going to stay in the Top 10 for at least another week. MU is sitting 10th, just as they were going into last week. The win over ‘Nova no doubt helped their cause, as it’s likely they would’ve slid a bit after suffering the aforementioned home loss to the Johnnies.
Speaking of Villanova, the Wildcats are still in the mix, of course. Jay Wright’s team actually moved up a spot to 13th in the AP Top 25 this week after going 1-1. Their loss to Marquette was coupled with a road victory against the DePaul Blue Demons. They sat 13th in the Coaches Poll last week, and remained stagnant there again.
As expected, no other Big East teams received votes this week.
