The Juice
The No. 23 Villanova Wildcats meet the Penn Quakers tonight at the Finneran Pavilion, continuing ‘Nova’s Philadelphia Big 5 game schedule.
The Wildcats could have claimed easy dominance over their Philly-centric line-up in recent years—however, last season’s game against the Quakers snapped ‘Nova’s 25-game Big 5 win-streak in a dramatic ending. Fought at the famed Palestra, Penn bested Villanova 78-75 in a hard-earned battle on the court.
In an upgrade from last year, this season’s Wildcats have a touch more experience and home court advantage, at the very least. Junior Collin Gillespie leads scoring for ‘Nova, averaging 15.1 points per game. In fact, Gillespie topped Villanova’s offense against Penn last December as well, dropping a team-high 21 points. Increasingly more confident in his role as PG, expect Gillespie to continue his leadership range tonight.
Villanova currently leads the all-time series against Penn 48-17.
