Villanova displayed a signature show last weekend, recovering from their Ohio State game slump to wallop Ohio University 78-54. Despite taking a dip in the national polls this week, falling from No. 10 to No. 17 in the AP Top 25, the Wildcats are poised to begin the Myrtle Beach Invitational with a smooth start.
The Wildcats’ freshmen class have been offensive powerhouses for ‘Nova, with Jeremiah Robinson-Earl even flexing his defensive ability under the basket. In his three-game starting freshman debut, Robinson-Earl is not only the second best point-producer, but also leads the entire squad in rebounding.
However, all eyes will likely be on fellow freshman Bryan Antoine. The highly-touted high school recruit underwent shoulder surgery earlier this year, and accordingly missed Villanova’s first three games this season. On Monday, Antoine received medical clearance to return to the court, and is anticipated to make his first few official minutes for the Wildcats.
This is only the second time that ‘Nova has met Middle Tennessee State—Villanova currently leads the series 1-0.
