Marquette takes down Oregon in NIT

The Golden Eagles are on fire.

The Marquette Golden Eagles are becoming an unbeatable force!

After taking down Harvard in their NIT opener earlier in the week, Marquette kept rolling Sunday, with a 101-92 win over the Oregon Ducks to advance to the third round!

Andrew Rowsey led the way with 29 points, 16 of which came in the first quarter to get the Golden Eagles off to a hot start. As you might expect, Markus Howard got his points as well, finishing the night with 16.

Much like Harvard, Oregon didn’t seem particularly interested in traveling halfway across the country to play a game against an offense like Marquette’s. The Ducks never matched up well against the Golden Eagles, as Oregon’s defense took a large step back this year after losing virtually everyone from last season’s Final Four squad.

Marquette turned 13 Oregon turnovers into 30 points, which is a vital part of pounding an opponent into submission. You have to capitalize on their mistakes, and the Golden Eagles did that. They’ll face Penn State on March 20 with the winner advancing to Madison Square Garden.
