It’s finally Selection Sunday! The long awaited day has arrived, and in a few short hours we’ll learn the field of 68 and the brackets for this year’s NCAA Tournament.
Your favorite conference figures to be a heavy fixture again this year. There’s a good chance that the Big East will sport not one but TWO 1 seeds. The Villanova Wildcats and Xavier Musketeers have boasted strong resumes this year, and are looking good to be leading a region this year.
The Big East also has four teams who will likely get at-large bids. The Butler Bulldogs, Creighton Bluejays, Providence Friars and Seton Hall Pirates are expected to hear their names called later today. The only way it could bump up to five is if the Marquette Golden Eagles somehow, someway were able to finesse their way in. That, unfortunately, is likely wishful thinking for the fine folks in Milwaukee.
Anyways... here’s what you need to know about today’s festivities:
- The Selection Show, for the first time ever, will NOT BE ON CBS! It will be on TBS. We’re going to have this conversation in 2020, 2022 and 2024 as well, by the way. From here on out, as part of Turner and CBS’ TV deal, the Selection Show will be on the network in which the Final Four and National Championship are aired. This is your reminder that the Final Four and National Title Game will be on TBS this year.
- The Selection Show starts at 6 p.m. ET, as always.
