After splitting their games with Kansas and Louisville in the NIT Tip-Off, the Marquette Golden Eagles returned to Fiserv Forum at 4-2 with a seven-game homestand starting them in the face and some opportunities to pick up good wins. Four weeks later, Marquette comes into the Buffalo game at 9-2 with wins over two ranked teams on the homestand and looking to pick up another signature victory over the undefeated Buffalo Bulls.
It’s not going to be an easy task for Marquette, though, as the Bulls have road wins against Syracuse and West Virginia already under their belt. Led by the duo of CJ Massinburg (17.9 ppg, 7.2 rpg) and Nick Perkins (13.5 ppg, 8.5 rpg), Buffalo is perhaps the most surprising of any undefeated team aside from Furman this season.
It’s hard to find a definitive advantage for either side. They’re both very evenly matched in terms of personnel and on KenPom, which should make for a very fun game. As is usually the case for Marquette, Markus Howard, Sam Hauser, and Joey Hauser will likely do most of the heavy lifting on offense.
