DePaul improves to 8-0 at home with victory over Incarnate Word

The Blue Demons are 8-0 at home for the first time since 1999!

For the first time this century, the DePaul Blue Demons are 8-0 at home to begin the season!

The Blue Demons took care of business against the Incarnate Word Cardinals, winning by an 81-71 margin Wednesday evening.

The evening started on a sour note for the Blue Demons, as the school announced sophomore guard Jalen Coleman-Lands would be out for the next few weeks with a broken hand. Coleman-Lands suffered the injury in the second half of DePaul win against UIC and had surgery Tuesday.

Once the game began, the Blue Demons found themselves off to a sluggish start, trailing Incarnate Word by four with ten minutes left in the frame. Eli Cain tried with all his might to get DePaul on track though, hitting four straight three pointers over a two-minute span to keep the Demons ahead. Despite this, DePaul was up by just four going into halftime.

Things managed to work themselves out in the second half for DePaul, though. Paul Reed led the way with 12 second half points as the Blue Demons were able to pull away with the victory. There were certainly some negatives in this game, but a win is a win and that’s what counts.

Max Strus also overcame a slow start to finish with 18 points.

Charles Brown led the way for Incarnate Word with a game-high 27 points.

DePaul will be off until Friday when they will host Boston College.
