The Advocare Invitational has helped put the “W” back in “Wildcats.” Bouncing back from their early season disarray, Villanova has won both of their previous games down in Orlando.
In career-breakout performances, sophomore Dhamir Cosby-Roundtree has put up affirming numbers for ‘Nova. Against Canisius, Cosby-Roundtree tied top points with Phil Booth by shooting 15, while also leading the team in 13 rebounds. In fact, most recently against Oklahoma State, Cosby-Roundtree grabbed another team-high 13 rebounds.
Oklahoma State proved a pivotal game for the senior members of Villanova’s squad as well. Eric Paschall dropped a resounding 22 points, while also shooting 60% of 3FGs. Fellow senior Phil Booth racked up volume shooting as well, securing 20 points for the Wildcats.
Florida State, conversely, has experienced far less of a “bounce back” cause so far this season. Coming into today’s game 5-0, the nationally-ranked Seminoles have been noted for their offensive efficiency. Senior Terance Mann leads the Seminoles in both shooting and rebounding, averaging 13.6 points per game and 7.4 rebounds. Mann shoots 52.2% FGs on average, and while he doesn’t opt for three-pointers often, he is 66.7% from the three-point line.
Villanova has won its past five in-season tournaments—let’s see if they can serve Florida State their first season loss, while also adding a sixth jewel to the Wildcats’ crown.
