After the Gator Chomp by JP Macura, and The Shot by Bronson Koening, Xavier and Wisconsin have developed a hatred of one another. Ethan Happ this time, had his chance to shine.
Happ exploded for 30 points on 15-for-23 shooting and inhaled 12 rebounds. This impressive showcase from Happ handed Xavier it’s first non-conference loss at home since 2012.
While the game was close in the first half, Wisconsin held strong. Wisconsin held the lead 15-9 up until the 10:24 mark. Quentin Goodin attempted to spark the offense, but Wisconsin held the lead.
Wisconsin never let up in the second half. At one point they outscored Xavier 31-17.
Wisconsin led in every statistical category. But what decided the game was three-pointers. Xavier shot 20% as a team from three-point land, while Wisconsin shot 56% on fewer attempts.
Naji Marshall had a career-high 24 points and notched 13 rebounds for Xavier. Quentin Goodin has 13 points and five assists as well.
Xavier will look to rebound against a tough Auburn squad Monday in Maui.
