Series History
This is the first time Creighton will take on East Tennessee State
Verba de Ludis
Although the Buccaneers 25-9 last season, they return just one of their top scorers from last season in Bo Hodges, a 6’4 wing that started in just nine games. ETSU features just one senior on their squad in 6’8 forward James Harrison.
With a roster decimated by graduation, and a complete reshuffling of the deck, ETSU comes into today’s ballgame with a six point loss to Georgia State to open the year and a win against Hiwassee College, a NCCAA (National Christian College Athletic Association) school from just down the road in Madisonville, TN.
Mladen Armus, a human being with a definitely human name, is going to man the middle for the Bucs, as he stands at a stalky 6’10 and a heavy 245lbs. Armus had nine rebounds, three blocks, went 5-15 from the field, and scored 11 points.
Spread out on the court will be the aforementioned Bo Hodges, who matched not-alien Armus with 11 points of his own. Patrick Good, who isn’t bad, joins Hodges in the back court. At 6’ and 165lbs, the little guy Good will dole out assists and take haphazard three point attempts for fun. Isaiah Tisdale will round out the back court and was the top scorer for the Bucs in that loss against Georgia State, scoring 19 points while going 6-7 from inside the arc. Tisdale, as hard as he tried, finished the game going 0-7 from beyond the arc.
Jeromy Rodriguez fills out the rest of the frontcourt. A 6’7, 225lb forward, Rodriguez grabbed 13 rebounds in the affair with Georgia State.
Creighton should be at full-strength tonight, as Jacob Epperson took last weeks tilt against Western Illinois off. This gives the Jays some much needed depth and length as they struggled to find a balance and flow against Western Illinois, something they might need here against the Bucs.
This game really isn’t all that sexy. Assuming that the Jays were mandated to sit in the film room for hours and watch how many times they fucked up ballscreen defense against the Leathernecks, they’ll be hungry and happy to come into a ballgame with a blank slate. It’s really going to be a rout today, so come on down to the arena or pop your butt into a couch cushion and make ample conversation with your loved ones.
