Universally beloved Xavier Musketeers guard JP Macura has been named the Big East Player of the Week, the conference announced Monday afternoon.

The senior guard had a pair of huge games in Xavier’s 2-0 week, with 16 points against St. John’s and a season-high 27 (18 in the second half) in Xavier’s first-ever road win against Seton Hall.

Meanwhile, Villanova freshman Omari Spellman was named Big East Freshman of the Week. Villanova also had a 2-0 week, and Spellman impacted both wins in different ways. He had 14 points in Nova’s win over Georgetown, and 12 rebounds in Nova’s win over UConn.
