BIG EAST to Premiere ‘Shootaround’ August 10th

John Fanta will host the half hour program devoted to men’s basketball.

The BIG EAST digital team in New York has come together to put out a program that’ll bring the conference’s fans a new perspective in men’s college basketball.

Titled ‘Shootaround’ and hosted by former WSOU voice and BEDN correspondent John Fanta, the program will run about 30 minutes and shift its focus on a different team each week. It can be found on Twitter, Facebook, Fox Sports GO, as well as a podcasted version on iTunes each Thursday. Every episode will be archived for later consumption.

The first episode will air on August 10th with the first block featuring an interview with Seton Hall’s four illustrious seniors (Angel Delgado, Desi Rodriguez, Khadeen Carrington, and Ismael Sanogo) as well as a block with a general scope of all things BIG EAST basketball. The final block will be dedicated to fan interaction, with poll questions and comments from the conference’s fans.

The official hashtag for the show will be #BEshootaround, which you can use via Twitter to interact with the show.

The Seton Hall Four and John Fanta

This is the first of its kind for college basketball, a show of dedication from the front office down to give fans all the coverage it so desperately wants. As far as major conferences are concerned, the BIG EAST is ahead of the pack, becoming the sole conference in the country to offer a half-hour, year-round program dedicated to college basketball.

If you’re unfamiliar with John Fanta, you’ve been missing out on an excellent individual that has hoisted the BIG EAST banner with a lot of pride and a wealth of talent. Since the incarnation of the new BIG EAST, Fanta has been a proponent of Seton Hall and the conference as a whole. Here’s his latest reel:

With the BEDN, John has been at nearly all of the conference’s championship events, doing extensive coverage with players and coaches. He also loves hot dogs.

He also has a great sense of men’s fashion:

There’s a whole lot of creativity trickling down from the front office these days, giving the conference a unique appeal to those who wish to follow it. It’s a nice surprise to get a weekly program devoted to the game we love so dearly especially since we’re still a few months out from the season actually starting.
