Providence June recruiting roundup

The Friars had one of the best months on the recruiting trail of the entire conference.

If you look around the Big East’s recruiting roundups for June (you should, we have them all right here for you!), you’d be hard-pressed to find a better few weeks than Ed Cooley and the Providence Friars have had. Even though they only extended one offer, the Friars look set to maintain their spot near the top of the Big East for years to come.

COMMITS

AJ Reeves

After being on Ed Cooley’s radar for years, AJ Reeves made his commitment official on June 25.

The 2018 guard marks Cooley’s third straight season landing an ESPN Top 100 player, joining Alpha Diallo (95, 2016) and Makai Ashton-Langford (36. 2017). Reeves checks in at #53 on the 2018 list.

To have a player like Reeves already committed really takes some of the pressure off for the rest of the recruiting class. If you land another big recruit, great. If not, you already reeled in your big fish.

But Providence isn’t even close to being done yet, as they still have four spots left.

OFFERS

Jalen Lecque

The 2019 shooting guard from North Carolina is reeling in the offers already, as the Friars became the 23rd team to send one his way. Per ESPN’s 2019 rankings, he’s the 21st best player in the class and second best from North Carolina.
