June is indisputably one of the worst months of the year for college basketball.
The NBA Draft deadline has passed, players are home for the summer, coaching searches are (usually) done. It’s a whole lot of nothing.
Except when it comes to recruiting!
The Creighton Bluejays had a particularly busy month on the recruiting trail, landing a 2018 commit along with putting out a bunch of offers. Let’s dive in.
Commits
Christian Bishop
POSITION: F
HEIGHT: 6’7
WEIGHT: 180
RANKING: 140 on Rivals’ 2018 Top 150
The forward out of Lee’s Summit, Missouri is steadily climbing up recruiting boards. He picked Creighton over a few other local schools, and looks like he could certainly be a hidden gem for the Jays. Bishop is Creighton’s first 2018 commit. Read more about him below.
Damien Jefferson
Jefferson is a transfer from New Mexico, but he still counts! The East Chicago product averaged five points a game in his freshman campaign with the Lobos. He’ll have to sit out this season per NCAA transfer rules.
Offers
Akok Akok
The 2019 forward from New Hampshire also has offers from DePaul, Virginia Tech, Providence, and Louisville.
Majok Deng
Deng is the fourth best player in the 2019 class from Arizona. He has offers from most of the Arizona schools, along with Stanford and Pepperdine.
While it was still a relatively quiet month, it sure beats the typical June news. Creighton also retained head coach Greg McDermott, who was in talks with Ohio State, which you may remember.
