Deng ranks as the fourth-best player in the state of Arizona per 247Sports Composite. Fellow four-stars Josh Green, Walter Talley and Jovan Blacksher, all from Phoenix, are the three players standing in front of him on the list. Deng also is listed at 39th among small forwards and checks in at 115th overall in the class of 2019.
Currently, Arizona, Arizona State, Georgia Tech, New Mexico, Utah and Vanderbilt have all sent offers to the 6-foot-5, 175-pound small forward out of Salpointe Catholic. There’s no indication where he’ll go quite yet, as there’s still plenty of time to go in his recruitment.
Deng is originally a native of South Sudan. Scout.com’s Josh Gershon profiled him last September in what is a remarkable story that is worth your time if you haven’t heard of him before.
