The excitement and anticipation of waiting for college basketball season received yet another jolt Wednesday afternoon as the PK80 bracket was revealed and we learned the first-round match-ups.

The Butler Bulldogs will be opening play against the Texas Longhorns. This marks the first time in either school’s history that the teams have squared off in the regular season. Butler defeated Texas in the 2015 NCAA Tournament. Texas has had a couple disappointing seasons under Shaka Smart, but should be much better this year with the addition of five-star big man Mo Bamba.

A fun match-up lies in the second round if the Bulldogs can defeat the Longhorns, as they’ll square off with the Duke Blue Devils, provided Duke defeats Portland State.

Meanwhile, the Georgetown Hoyas will open play against the Michigan State Spartans, in a battle of two tradition-rich programs. Georgetown defeated Michigan State at Madison Square Garden in the 2014 season, but Michigan State ended Georgetown’s season in the 1986 NCAA Tournament.
