In what turned out to be a bizarre Saturday afternoon, Creighton was crowned the BIG EAST regular season champion after St. John’s lost to Villanova 9-6.

Creighton’s game against Butler was rained out, leaving them stagnant and waiting for the conclusion of St. John’s-Villanova.

The Bluejays (23-23, 11-4) hold a higher winning percentage over #20 St. John’s (40-9, 13-5), thus propelling them to the regular season crown.

The conference tournament will start on Thursday at 2:30PM (CT) at TD Ameritrade Park in Omaha between St. John’s and the number three seed Xavier (29-25,10-6).

Creighton and number four seed Seton Hall (29-22, 10-8) will play in the nightcap at 6:30PM (CT).

Tickets for the tournament can be found here.
