DePaul’s basketball season may have ended with their Big East Tournament loss to Xavier, but guard Billy Garrett Jr. remained in the NCAA spotlight. This past weekend at the Final Four, Garrett Jr., along with nine other NCAA players, were honored as part of the 2017 Allstate NABC Good Works Team.

In addition to being one of the best players in DePaul’s history, Garrett Jr. was always one of the more interactive players when it comes to helping out in community events. This time in Phoenix was no different as Garrett Jr. helped former NBA All-Star and Phoenix Suns guard Steve Nash teach a group of Special Olympics athletes through a variety of basketball drills and activities.
Despite DePaul’s 2016-17 season being a disappointing one, it was good to see Garrett Jr. being honored for his off-court efforts. This was one of the many awards that he has received this season. In addition to this one, he recently received the Big East Scholar Athlete of the Year award. Good luck in your future endeavors, Billy!
