2017 big man Sandro Mamukelashvili committed to the Seton Hall Pirates on Thursday!

The news of Mamukelashvili’s commitment to The Hall was first reported by college hoops insider Adam Zagoria.

The Montverde Academy grad is the third member of Seton Hall’s 2017 class. He joins in-state guard Myles Cale and Putnam Science Academy (Putnam, CT) forward Darnell Brodie as Kevin Willard’s incoming trio of recruits. He’s the second three-star player in the class, joining Brodie in that company, with Cale being the top player as a four-star shooting guard.

Once the update processes on 247Sports, Seton Hall’s class will rank sixth in the conference, leapfrogging Marquette and DePaul, and check in at 48th nationally, hopping up from a current standing of 66.

Mamukelashvili’s addition aids the Pirates in the frontcourt, which figures to be an area of strength going forward. But, it’s definitely something that the Pirates will have to ensure they have some insurance for. Angel Delgado is testing the waters in the NBA Draft, and if he goes, the Pirates will be absent a vital player and a big body down low. They’ll still have Ismael Sanogo, Rashed Anthony and Michael Nzei in tow to be sure. The aforementioned Brodie will be hanging around as well as an incoming recruit, but you can never have too much size even in a sport like basketball that’s evolving in the way that it is. So, Sandro Mamukelashvili will certainly find a home down low and hopefully see his skillset translate.
