As the college basketball postseason draws nearer, so too do awards finalists lists.
On Monday, HoopHall released its finalists for the Bob Cousy Award, given annually to the nation’s best point guard. Villanova Wildcats sophomore guard made the list.
Brunson joins Gonzaga’s Nigel Williams-Goss, Kansas’ Frank Mason III, North Carolina’s Joel Berry, and UCLA’s Lonzo Ball on the list.
The Villanova sophomore has excelled this season, averaging 14.8 points and 4.3 assists per game. Brunson also leads Big East point guards in shooting, boasting a 53.6% shooting percentage.
This is the second straight year the Big East has had a Cousy Award finalist, as Kris Dunn was a finalist in 2015-16. Kemba Walker is the only Big East player to ever win the award (2011).
The winner will be announced as part of ESPN’s College Basketball Awards show in April.
