After 37 seasons and 526 games, the DePaul Blue Demons (9-22, 2-16) bid farewell to the Allstate Arena on Saturday afternoon with a 79-65 loss to the Xavier Musketeers (19-12, 9-9).

Xavier, who has started teetering closer and closer to the bubble desperately needed the victory to snap their six-game losing streak. Naturally, Trevon Bluiett delivered for the Musketeers, scoring 24 points (17 of which came in the second half) and grabbing 10 rebounds to record his fifth double-double of the season.

After a back and forth first half which saw the Musketeers go into the locker room with a 33-30 lead, Xavier played a strong second half, holding DePaul to 35 points.

The Blue Demons were led by senior Billy Garrett’s 17 points and (career-high) seven rebounds on his senior day. Eli Cain chipped in 15 points.

Xavier and DePaul will meet up again Wednesday night in the Big East Tournament, as the Musketeers are the 7-seed and DePaul is the 10-seed. The winner of that game will move on to face Butler on Thursday evening.
