NCAA bracket 2017: No. 1 Villanova will play No. 16 Mount St. Mary’s or New Orleans on Thursday

The Villanova Wildcats (31-3) have been named the top overall seed in the 2017 NCAA Tournament!

Villanova will face the winner of the Mount Saint Mary’s and New Orleans First Four matchup at the KeyBank Center in Buffalo, NY on Thursday.

This is the third time in school history the Wildcats have been a #1 seed, but the first time Villanova has been the top seed overall.

This marks the 38th time in school history that Villanova has been to the NCAA Tournament, and the 12th time in Jay Wright’s tenure.

Additionally, as you may remember, Villanova won the 2016 NCAA Tournament.

Per new NCAA rules, being the top overall seed allowed the Wildcats to select the region in which they play their games. The Wildcats chose the East Region and will advance to Madison Square Garden if they win both games in Buffalo.
