Georgetown vs. Villanova 2017: Game time, TV schedule, online streaming, odds and preview

Another chapter will be written in one of the Big East’s oldest rivalries.

NCAA Basketball: Georgetown at Villanova Bill Streicher-USA TODAY Sports

In a world of college basketball that’s growing increasingly wild, the Villanova Wildcats are establishing themselves as one of the nation’s best.

Entering Tuesday, just five teams have two losses or less, and ‘Nova is amongst that pack and perhaps stands as the best depending on your opinion of the currently unbeaten Gonzaga Bulldogs. Needless to say: While all of the wackiness goes, the Wildcats are taking the road less traveled and setting themselves up nicely for a premium position in March’s NCAA Tournament and seeking the first set of back-to-back championships since the Florida Gators of 2006 and 2007.

Speaking of 2007, that of course is the last time the Georgetown Hoyas made it past the first weekend of the NCAA Tournament. Hard times have hit the D.C.-based program and after a spurt of life, they were downsized by Seton Hall over the weekend. The Hoyas took a loss to the Pirates in OT that put them at 13-11 and 4-7 in Big East play.

With a weakened bubble, Georgetown’s chances of making the field of 68 are stunningly not out of the question, but they’ll need all the help that they can get. A dosage of heading to The Pavilion to face the vaunted Wildcats may not be what the doctor ordered, but should they pick up what would be a shocking win, more life would be jolted to them in return.
