Storylines

  • DePaul has been playing a lot of close games this Big East conference season. They only lost by three to Villanova, got a home win by one against Providence, only lost by three to Georgetown, and lost by one in overtime against Butler. They’ve had some blowouts, too, but if they can keep it close against a Marquette team that still looks hungover after their upset of Villanova, they have to get a close decision to go their way soon, right?
  • On the subject of the Marquette hangover: it took Creighton getting (and beating) DePaul to right the ship after losing point guard Mo Watson Jr. to an ACL tear earlier this year. Is this the Marquette reset game, or do they stumble yet again?

The Don’t @ Me Prediction

I think it comes to no surprise that if you stalk me enough you’ll find my Twitter and figure out I go to Marquette. It’s been a heartbreaking last two games after the pure euphoria of beating #1 Villanova. The team looks like they can’t get anything to work and their execution has left so much to be desired. I’ve been very pessimistic on this team since Wednesday.

And I think I’m going to continue to be pessimistic about Marquette. Billy Garrett Jr. repeats last year’s DePaul victory in Milwaukee by getting a basket to go late and DePaul wins in a close one, 77-75.
