Following their big win over the Xavier Musketeers on Saturday, the Marquette Golden Eagles find themselves on the right side of the bubble still, at least in ESPN’s Joe Lunardi’s most recent Bracketology.
Sure, the Golden Eagles would be headed to Dayton to play a game in the First Four, but that certainly beats the alternative.
Marquette still has work to do, though, and that work continues Tuesday night when they welcome the St. John’s Red Storm to the BMO Harris Bradley Center.
The Red Storm don’t find themselves appearing on any brackets at the moment, however, at 6-8 in Big East play, the Red Storm could benefit hugely if they can defeat the 7-7 Golden Eagles. If St. John’s secures a first-round bye in the Big East Tournament, that would mean they won at least eight Big East games, and the season would have to be deemed successful.
Also, it’s been a long year already. We deserve nice things. With that being said, consider this my personal plea for Markus Howard and Shamorie Ponds to both go off and have one of the best back-and-forth scoring battles we’ve ever seen.
