The Big East announced its picks for its weekly awards Monday morning, and for the first time this year, Seton Hall Pirates guard Khadeen Carrington has been named Big East Player of the Week. Marquette Golden Eagles guard Markus Howard takes home his second Big East Freshman of the Week award.
Carrington’s strong play led Seton Hall to a victory over Creighton. The junior guard had a career-high 41 points, recording just the thirteenth 40+ point game in Seton Hall history. Carrington made a career-high 18 free throws in that game, along with seven assists and five rebounds. Saturday against Villanova, Carrington led all Pirate scorers with 22 points in the loss.
Howard couldn’t be stopped in Marquette’s lone game of the week, notching a career-high 34 points in the Golden Eagles’ win over Xavier. Howard also hit nine three-pointers, tying the Marquette single-game record and the Big East freshman single-game record.
