Darryl Reynolds injury: Villanova Wildcats big man out vs. Xavier, listed as day-to-day with rib injury

Big news filing in before today’s game...

Darryl Reynolds will be absent from the Villanova Wildcats in their high-stakes matchup vs. the Xavier Musketeers on Saturday. The official word on Reynolds, who has a rib injury, was handed down by ‘Nova’s men’s basketball program’s Twitter account on Saturday morning.

The news had first been pushed out into the frame by CBS/FanRag Sports college basketball insider Jon Rothstein. Reynolds has been an integral piece on both ends of the floor this season for ‘Nova in many aspects, especially with length on a relatively undersized team.

Depth has been an underlying issue with ‘Nova with Phil Booth out of the equation with nagging tendinitis. Reynolds’ absence on Saturday does not help matters much. ‘Nova may have to rely on freshman Dylan Painter if they want to distribute minutes to a big man, and of course it’s worth noting that Painter has not gotten significant burn this season.

6-foot-7 forward Eric Paschall will likely be playing in Reynolds’ place and should they turn to Painter, the Wildcats will be using just seven players against the Musketeers in Saturday afternoon’s clash in Cincinnati.
