How to watch Creighton vs. DePaul: Game time, TV schedule, odds and more

With both teams coming off tough losses to Xavier, which one will bounce back?

NCAA Basketball: DePaul at Xavier Frank Victores-USA TODAY Sports

There isn’t a lot that the DePaul Blue Demons and the Creighton Bluejays have in common this season. But last week they both had the same result against the Xavier Musketeers when they fell to Chris Mack’s team. The loss snapped Creighton’s two-game winning streak, moving their record to 20-4 and dropped them to fourth in the Big East standings. The Bluejays are now 2.5 games back of first place Villanova but are only .5 games back of 3rd place Butler, who Creighton beat last week. If Creighton is able to win this game (which they likely will), it will keep up the close race for first place in the Big East. With them 1.5 games ahead of the fifth place team in the conference (Marquette), the Jays should be focused on trying to catch up to the top dogs. After this game, Creighton travels to Seton Hall before coming home to face Georgetown, who have been one of the more up and down teams this season.

While Creighton has enjoyed a lot of success this year, the same can’t be said for the Blue Demons. Dave Leitao’s team has struggled in conference play, and that’s putting it lightly. With only one win in conference, DePaul are now in the same place they were last year: the cellar of the Big East standings. With them 1.5 games off the second to last place team, they have dug themselves quite a hole and now have to try and get out of it. They haven’t won a game in over a month and if they can somehow pull off this upset, it could possibly change their season around. But that is a mighty big if. The road ahead doesn’t get any easier for DePaul after this game. Especially next week when they face Villanova and Butler. Good luck DePaul.

One matchup to watch

Can DePaul stop Creighton’s offense?

Creighton is one of the best teams in the country at moving the ball to find open shots and create easy baskets. Their 17.6 assists per game is 7th in the nation and that spells trouble for a DePaul team that gives up 73.5 points per game. The Blue Demons’ lack of discipline defensively could be the downfall for them.
