The Marquette Golden Eagles are set to renew their most intense rivalry on Saturday morning. The Kohl Center in Madison will play host to the annual tilt between the Golden Eagles and Wisconsin Badgers of the Big Ten.

MU and Wisky have fought one another for years as the preeminent rivalry in America’s Dairyland. This will be the 124th time in history that they face off against each other. The Badgers have won 67 of the previous 123 meetings between the two teams.

The series, however, has been a bit split in recent years. Since the 2005-06 season, the Badgers merely hold a 7-5 lead in the series. They have traded off the last three matchups, with the road team winning each contest.

Ethan Happ and Markus Howard figure to be the ones to watch for on Saturday morning. Happ has been outstanding, averaging 16.2 points and 8.6 rebounds through the Badgers’ first 10 games. He’s coming off a 23-point performance in the Badgers’ loss to Temple back on Wednesday.

Howard, meanwhile, dropped a season-high 34 points in Marquette’s win over the Vermont Catamounts on Tuesday. Howard hasn’t finished out of double figures at all this season. He’s scored 22 or more in six games, 25 or more in four and 30+ in two of the last three.

This game typically brings out the best in both, so hopefully that’s the case on Saturday morning in Madison.
