Odds & Ends
Creighton is an 11 point favorite according to Odds Shark. The over/under is set at 156.5.
If you’re thinking about betting on this game, don’t. Never bet on college basketball rivalry games. There’s just too much emotional baggage weighing this game down. It’d be like betting on when your dog was going to die or when your nephew was going to kill your dog or when your dog was going to kill your nephew. You’ll never be able to make the right gamble because there’s a lot at stake.
Series History
This will be the 51st time these two teams haves played one another. More importantly, this series is tied at 25-25, a testament to how good the basketball is in the state of Nebraska.
Well, at least for one side.
Creighton has won the last 6 games by a margin of 14+ points. They’ve beat the brakes off Nebraska multiple times in the past 5 years, with a 64-42 win in 2012, an 83-67 blowout in 2015, and last year’s 77-62 stomping.
Nebraska has fallen on hard times lately. Their coach is really nice but he just cannot beat Greg McDermott. Upon Tim Miles’s wall of accomplishments, getting his tushy walloped by a McDermott seems to be his crowning achievement ever since he sauntered into the head coaching role at Nebraska.
Since the game on December 9th, 1999, Creighton is 15-4 against the Cornhuskers. This is an entirely new era of college basketball, and I’m certainly glad that I’m part of it.
