DePaul takes down Central Connecticut State to prove blue team superiority

That was certainly a game of basketball.

The DePaul Blue Demons defeated the Central Connecticut State Blue Devils, 85-57, Wednesday night at Wintrust Arena.

This clearly means DePaul is the best team in the nation with Blue as the first word of their name. I can’t think of any others, that’s for sure.

DePaul led wire-to-wire, and looked quite impressive en route to ending CCSU’s five-game winning streak. Speaking of winning streaks, DePaul’s has now been extended to three! That’s the first three-game winning streak for DePaul since November 2016.

Eli Cain led the way with 17 points, but overall it was a balanced scoring attack for the Blue Demons, as five players had double-digit points. Brandon Cyrus had 16, Marin Maric had 13, TreDarius McCallum had 13, and Jaylon Butz had 10. Butz also had nine rebounds, in what was likely the best game of his young career.

At the end of the day, DePaul did what they had to do: not lose at home to a terrible team. The Blue Demons head across town to face the UIC Flames in their next game Saturday.
