SERIES HISTORY: 9th meeting between the teams (Georgetown leads series 8-0)
Even before the season started, the Georgetown Hoyas knew that scrutiny was heading their way.
Only difference a month into the season? They now have some national recognition.
In the latest edition of the Top 25 released by the Associated Press, Georgetown received 4 votes. While that's not a lot, the rankings made the case that the Hoyas are more worthy of a Top 25 appearance over teams such as St. John's (Who got no votes), and even Providence (Who got only 2 more votes than G-Town).
Regardless, Georgetown looks to continue their best start to a season since 2012-13 as they welcome in the Howard Bison.
For the Hoyas, all eyes are on junior big man Jessie Govan. While the schedule is weak, Govan's performances have been far from. The Queens Village, New York native comes off of a 26 point, 16 rebound line in a win against Coppin State. Govan has recorded four 20+ point, 14+ rebound performances in the first six contests. Marcus Derrickson (14 PPG & 6.7 RPG) is looking to score in double figures for the sixth time in his first seven games to complement Govan.
For the Bison, the start to the season has not been too bright so far. Howard starts the season 1-8 for the second straight season and come off of a loss to the University of Pennsylvania Quakers.
One thing that has been going Howard's way is true freshman RJ Cole. Cole is averaging a team-high 19.6 points per contest along with five 20+ point games in his first nine games on his collegiate career.
In the game, the Hoyas should run away with it.
But in Strength of Schedule, the Bison (Played Gonzaga & Indiana) hold the edge.
