The 15th-ranked Seton Hall Pirates fell at the hands of their in-state rivals Saturday afternoon. The Pirates suffered their second loss of the season to the Rutgers Scarlet Knights, who energized a comeback effort at the RAC in Piscataway. By afternoon’s end, RU celebrated a 71-65 victory over The Hall, their first since March 8, 2013, when they were part of the Big East.

The Hall was plagued by a bad shooting effort down the stretch. They went without a field goal for the last 6:06 of the game and were 0 for their last 8 attempts from the field. It is certainly a debilitating loss, especially when you consider RU shot 34.3 percent from the field and 25.0 percent from 3-point land.

It’s Rutgers’ first win over a team ranked at least 15th in the country since January 11, 2015, when the Scarlet Knights knocked off 4th-ranked Wisconsin. It’s their first win over a ranked Big East team since knocking off 8th-ranked UConn all the way back on January 7, 2012.

We’ll be back.
