Marquette Golden Eagles guard Markus Howard and Creighton Bluejays freshman Mitch Ballock have been named the conference’s player and freshman of the week, respectively.
The Big East released the news Monday morning.
Howard excelled in Marquette’s two wins this week, scoring a season-high 34 points against Vermont. He had 23 points and seven rebounds against Wisconsin and leads the Big East in scoring at 22.5 points per game this year.
Ballock was also excellent in his team’s rivalry game, helping lead the Bluejays to a 75-65 win over Nebraska. He had 13 points, 11 of which came in the second half. Ballock also grabbed six rebounds, dished out four assists, and had a ferocious block.
I'd like to submit Mitch Ballock for best block of the season by a freshman. pic.twitter.com/yvbQvbSGKW— Josh Planos (@JPlanos) December 9, 2017
