SERIES HISTORY: First meeting between two teams

It's safe to say that the Marquette Golden Eagles had a good trip to Hawaii.

Going 2-1 against VCU, Wichita State, and an impressive LSU team is what coach Steve Wojciechowski wanted to see when he booked the trip. Even though they’re 3-2 on the season, Marquette's two losses came against Purdue and Wichita State which aren't bad losses by any means.

The Golden Eagles will look to continue to get significant production from their senior point guard Andrew Rowsey, who averaged just over 25 points per game in three contests in Maui. Sam Hauser is starting to hit his stride as well by putting together a pair of 20 point games in the tournament last week.

Oh, and they shot the ball well too.

The Golden Eagles shot 33-93 (35%) from three over the three contests in Maui. Not the greatest percentage for a team who led college basketball in three point percentage a year ago, but most teams would kill for those numbers.

The Eastern Illinois Panthers, coming off of a 96-44 win against Fontbone University, will look to be led by Jajuan Starks. Starks, a senior from Fort Wayne, Indiana averages 14.8 points a contest along with grabbing six rebounds per game.

This is the beginning of a soft patch in Marquette's nonconference schedule before they travel in-state to take on the Wisconsin Badgers. This should be an easy win for Marquette, but don't count out the possibility of the hot shooting not coming home from Maui potentiall making the game close.
