Preview
After opening last week with a loss to the Minnesota Golden Gophers, Providence bounced back nicely with victories over Washington and Saint Louis in the 2K Classic. After nearly a week-long layoff, the Friars are back at it Wednesday night.
2K Classic MVP Kyron Cartwright has picked up right where he left off last season, averaging 10.3 points and 8.0 assists per game this season.
Perhaps surprisingly, the Friars come into this game as the nation’s best three-point shooting team, boasting a .543 shooting percentage from beyond the arc. Whether or not it can be sustained for the entire season will remain to be seen, but it certainly helps that both Cartwright and Rodney Bullock are shooting over 50% on the year.
Since opening the year with a loss in Seattle against Washington, Belmont has won four in a row, including a game over Vanderbilt. Junior forward Dylan Windler has been a terror, averaging 16 points and 12 rebounds per game. Providence will have to keep him contained to avoid an upset.
The Friars have the upper hand in this game, and it would be rather surprising if they lose, but Belmont is certainly not to be taken lightly.
