Preseason 2017 USA TODAY Coaches Poll features three Big East teams

The preseason USA TODAY poll is out! And teams from your favorite conference are in the mix, as the Big East has one in the Top 10, two in the Top 20 and three in the Top 25.

Leading the Big East charge, unsurprisingly, is the Villanova Wildcats. The ‘Cats, who’ve won the last four Big East titles, start the season ranked 6th in the USA TODAY poll. This marks the third straight season that ‘Nova has started in the Top 10 of the Coaches Poll. Last year, the Wildcats started the year at 3rd and the year prior, ‘Nova began the season at the 9th position.

Next, you have to down to the 17th spot. The Xavier Musketeers are there, finding their way to start within the Top 20. It’s the second straight year that the Musketeers find themselves in the preseason poll. Last season, they started with high expectations, beginning the season ranked 8th in the country.

Finally, we have the Seton Hall Pirates. The Pirates are back in the preseason poll for the first time in a while, ranked 23rd in the county. The last time The Hall was in any kind of preseason poll was back in the year 2000. That year, the Pirates started the season 10th in the preseason AP Top 25.

The Butler Bulldogs, Providence Friars and Creighton Bluejays also received votes in the preseason poll.
