The Big East Conference kicked off its media day on Wednesday morning, with the announcement of its preseason Player of the Year, Freshman of the Year, and All-Big East Teams.

Villanova junior point guard Jalen Brunson was named the preseason Player of the Year.

Brunson averaged 14.1 points and 4.1 assists last season for the Wildcats. He guided Villanova to a 32-4 record and to Big East regular season and tournament titles. Last season, he was named a All-Big East First Team selection.

As for the Freshman of the Year award, the Big East went with another Wildcat, Omari Spellman. The 6-foot-9 center had to sit out last season per NCAA rules, but was able to practice with the team.
