Gamblin’ Info

Villanova is only a 1.5-point favorite against Butler, according to OddsShark.com.

The Stakes

Villanova is looking to stay undefeated and #1 in the country while Butler is trying to pull off the upset on their home floor. Butler has never beaten Villanova in their seven previous match-ups. The last time Hinkle Fieldhouse has hosted a top ranked team was in the 1953-54 season when the Bulldogs hosted #1 Indiana. Villanova’s 14-0 start is the best in program history, and their 20 consecutive game win streak is on the line. Butler also boasts an 11-game win streak at Hinkle Fieldhouse.

Inside the Numbers

Villanova’s Jaylen Brunson is coming off a huge (Big East Player of the Week) week with a 27-point performance when the Wildcats visited the #10 Bluejays for an 80-70 victory. Butler will look to contain both him and national player of the year candidate Josh Hart.

For the Bulldogs, Kelan Martin looks to continue his dominant performances with another one today. Martin has only scored 13 and 15 points respectively in the last two games and looks to build upon that today. The Bulldogs are 19-5 when Martin is their leading scorer. Butler is also shooting 49.9 percent from the field, which ranks 14th nationally.
