Big East Coast Bias Basketball Power Rankings: WEEK TWELVE EDITION

Lots of movement... except at the top.

NCAA Basketball: Virginia at Villanova Bill Streicher-USA TODAY Sports

Our latest edition of Power Rankings are out!

In this week’s edition, 18 pollsters ranked the Big East teams 1-10.

This week’s edition featured the contributions of Banners on the Parkway, Casual Hoya, and Anonymous Eagle.

10. DePaul Blue Demons

(Score: 9.83; Last Week: 9; Highest Vote: 9; Lowest Vote: 10)

“DePaul made it out of the cellar for a week. But, going 0-1 this week, coupled with Georgetown’s strong week put them right back down.” - Robert O’Neill

“On the bright side... all DePaul has to do is win two more games and they have more wins than last year.” - Chris Novak

9. St. John’s Red Storm

(Score: 9.06; Last Week: 8; Highest Vote: 8; Lowest Vote: 10)

“The Red Storm are 4-6 in Big East play. Did you know that? I bet you didn’t know that.” - Robert O’Neill

“St. John’s is 4-4 in games decided by six points or less and 3-1 in Big East play. Although they lost to Xavier, they are still scrappy as hell.” - Chris Novak

8. Georgetown Hoyas

(Score: 7.61; Last Week: 10; Highest Vote: 6; Lowest Vote: 9)

“What a difference a week makes. The Hoyas took down Creighton and then went to Hinkle and beat Butler.” - Robert O’Neill

“Are... are the Hoyas... going to make a run to to the NCAA Tournament?” - Chris Novak

7. Providence Friars

(Score: 7.44; Last Week: 7; Highest Vote: 7; Lowest Vote: 8)

“It feels like the Friars have been in the seventh spot of the Power Rankings for a month straight.” - Robert O’Neill

“Providence won in Milwaukee. Anything is possible.” - Chris Novak

6. Seton Hall Pirates (1)

(Score: 5.50; Last Week: 6; Highest Vote: 1; Lowest Vote: 7)

“Well, this one will certainly turn some heads.” - Robert O’Neill

“So much for hating Seton Hall eh?” - Chris Novak

5. Creighton Bluejays

(Score: 4.78; Last Week: 3; Highest Vote: 4; Lowest Vote: 6)

“Creighton is going through a rough stretch. Hopefully their big win over DePaul helps right the ship.” - Robert O’Neill

“Creighton getting more production from Marcus Foster is good. They’ll need to chug along with him at the forefront going forward.” - Chris Novak

4. Marquette Golden Eagles

(Score: 4.22; Last Week: 5; Highest Vote: 3; Lowest Vote: 6)

“Marquette probably would have cracked the top 3 if they beat Providence. As it stands, they set themselves up nicely for a postseason appearance with the win over Villanova.” - Robert O’Neill

“Yes, I voted Marquette 3rd. I think they’re deserving of that.” - Chris Novak

3. Xavier Musketeers

(Score: 3.56; Last Week: 4; Highest Vote: 3; Lowest Vote: 6)

“Despite the loss, Xavier (specifically Trevon Bluiett) looked pretty good against Cincinnati. They have a couple things they need to improve upon though, and the loss of Edmond Sumner for the rest of the season may hurt them.” - Robert O’Neill

“An extremely tough break for Xavier in losing Edmond Sumner. Quentin Goodin will have to pick up on things quickly.” - Chris Novak

2. Butler Bulldogs

(Score: 2.11; Last Week: 2; Highest Vote: 2; Lowest Vote: 3)

“Had the Bulldogs beat Georgetown and had Villanova lost to Virginia, you could very well see Butler on top of our rankings. However... that didn’t happen.” - Robert O’Neill

“Big missed opportunity for Butler this past week. Let’s see how they fare tonight against Creighton.” - Chris Novak

1. Villanova Wildcats (17)

(Score: 1.07; Last Week: 1; Highest Vote: 1; Lowest Vote: 2)

“Villanova lost to Marquette this week, but then they beat Virginia, so all is well.” - Robert O’Neill

“So someone else on Villanova besides Kris Jenkins is allowed to hit buzzer beaters after all.” - Chris Novak
