There and four teams from the Big East Conference are in the latest editions of the AP Top 25 and USA TODAY Coaches poll.
After falling to the Marquette Golden Eagles arlier in the week, a win over the Virginia Cavaliers couldn’t allow for the Villanova Wildcats to retain their top spot in the polls. ‘Nova dropped down to fourth as they’re now looking up at the Gonzaga bulldogs, Baylor Bears and Kansas Jayhawks who are slotted 1-2-3 in the AP poll and 1, 3 and 2 in the Coaches poll.
The Butler Bulldogs meanwhile are seated 15th and 16th in the USA TODAY and AP polls respectively. The ‘Dawgs fell to the Georgetown Hoyas on Saturday but were able to grab a win over the Seton Hall Pirates to give them a 1-1 record this past week as well.
Going down the rungs of the ladder and rounding things out were the Creighton Bluejays and Xavier Musketeers. The Jays were featured in both polls at No. 22, but the Musketeers had no such luck. While X is No. 25 in the Coaches poll, they find themselves just on the outside looking in over in the AP. They’re the 27th-ranked team in the AP poll, falling behind the Northwestern Wildcats and SMU Mustangs.
