The Xavier Musketeers will be without their star point guard for the remainder of the 2016-17 season. Redshirt sophomore Edmond Sumner was diagnosed with a torn ACL on Monday afternoon and has effectively been ruled out for the rest of the year.
Sumner had injured his left knee in the Musketeers’ matchup with the St. John’s Red Storm on Sunday night.

The Musketeers confirmed the news in the above release on GoXavier.com. Head coach Chris Mack expressed his devastation for Sumner in the release. The Xavier point guard will require surgery for the injury and the date of said surgery will be determined later.
This is an extremely tough blow for Xavier and the Big East Conference as well as another exciting point guard has gone down to the very same injury that put Creighton Bluejays guard Maurice Watson Jr. on the shelf earlier this month. We here at Big East Coast Bias wishes the best for Edmond Sumner during his upcoming recovery process.
