It’s a good Saturday for the Villanova Wildcats. The team defeated the St. John’s Red Storm earlier in the day at Madison Square Garden, and Jay Wright and his staff can celebrate a new addition to their 2017 recruiting class.
Class of 2017 Collin Gillespie of Warminster, Pennsylvania committed to ‘Nova on Saturday evening. The news was broken by Gillespie on his personal Twitter account.
Very excited to say I am committing to Villanova University ⚪️ @NovaMBB https://t.co/dmUwBJDmN2

The process to this point went pretty quickly after coach Wright was in to see Gillespie play back on January 6. Eight days later, Gillespie is on the board for ‘Nova as he joins four-star recruits Dhamir Cosby-Roundtree and Jermaine Samuels in the Wildcats’ recruiting class for 2017.
Up until this past fall, Gillespie had been fielding offers from D2 schools like Merrimack, Stonehill, the College of Philadelphia, Millersville and Holy Family. D1 schools began to offer him during his senior season (Hofstra, Delaware, Drexel and Maine to name a few) but obviously Villanova stood out the most among the pack.
