This game features two of the best sophomores in the Big East in Xavier's Edmond Sumner and Villanova's Jalen Brunson. Sumner has been exceptional for the Musketeers in their three Big East games so far this season, averaging 20.3 points, 6.6 assists, and 5.6 rebounds per game. Brunson, meanwhile, has averaged 19.8 points, 4.5 assists, and 3.8 rebounds per game in Villanova's four Big East games. If you enjoy dynamic guard play, this is the game for you, and that doesn't even get into the Trevon Bluiett/Josh Hart matchup.
Xavier guard Myles Davis will be in uniform for the first time this season after a 15-game suspension related to legal troubles over the summer. While Davis isn’t expected to play much as he gets back into form, Xavier fans should no doubt be interested in how their team looks from this point on, given that they're finally playing with a full deck.
As is the case for most teams, The Pavilion was a house of horrors for Xavier last year. After a 13-0 nonconference slate, the Musketeers opened Big East play against the Wildcats and promptly got wiped out. Edmond Sumner was injured in the first couple minutes en route to a 95-64 Villanova win. The Pavilion is one of the toughest places to play in the nation, which could very well be a deciding factor in this game.
