GEORGETOWN HOYAS - JESSIE GOVAN

One of the sweet things about having Patrick Ewing as the head coach of the Hoyas is that the big men on the team can develop under one of the best centers in Big East history. Jessie Govan has an NBA body and could turn into a solid pro some day. That he’ll be working under Ewing this season will no doubt help him. It will be interesting to see what the junior has in store for his first outing of the season. As a Hoya, he’s a career 8.4 point scorer and 4.6 rebounder. But there’s certainly still untapped potential. Last season he shot a career best 51.2 percent from the field and posted 10.1 points and 5.0 rebounds per game. Govan could have all that potential fleshed out this season under Ewing. He has a chance to start off strongly on Sunday afternoon in D.C.

JACKSONVILLE DOLPHINS - TANNER RUBIO

Tanner Rubio is coming off a year in which he was named to the Atlantic Sun’s All-Freshman team. The 6-foot sophomore from Maltland, Florida was an efficient shooter last year, posting an eFG% of 65.8 percent and a TS% of 67.4 percent. He shot nearly 50 percent from 3-point land on 108 attempts and had 11 games in double figures, including a 31-point outburst on January 25 against the vaunted Stetson Hatters. Rubio started the year off with a 10-point outing in Jacksonville’s 96-67 loss to the UAB Blazers on Friday. He might be poised for a breakout if Georgetown isn’t careful.

WHAT HAPPENS HERE?

Hopefully a win for Georgetown. Otherwise folks may litter our mentions with #FireEwing as they did with #FireJT3 for so dang long.
