The news was first reported by Hoopseen’s Corey Evans on Monday afternoon and gained further traction throughout the day. Dosunmu attends Morgan Park High School, located on the south side of the city of Chicago. Per 247Sports, Dosunmu is a four-star player and is the top player in the state of Illinois.
The Big East has proven to be no stranger to Dosunmu as he already has fielded offers from Creighton, Marquette and St. John’s. You should expect that a player of Dosunmu’s ability will likely gain further traction throughout the year if his high-caliber play continues.
Given that Xavier will see a flood of departures over the next few seasons it should come as no surprise that head coach Chris Mack is attempting to cover all of his bases. Recruiting a player with the talent of Dosunmu is a no-brainer and it’s already been indicated that he will be visiting crosstown rival Cincinnati, so expect the heat to be turned up between these two programs in their chase for The Windy City native.
Dosunmu joins Darius Garland, Jahvon Quinerly, Prentiss Hubb and Tyler Herro among others in guards that Xavier is currently pursuing from the Class of 2018. X has yet to land any commits from that class yet and that will likely sustain itself through the 2016-17 season as we’ll likely hear about Dosunmu and others around this time next year when the 2017-18 season approaches.
