It’s been a very quiet offseason for Chris Mack and the Xavier Musketeers to this point.
That changed on Monday evening when Scott Golden of HoopExchange tweeted that Florida A&M’s Malcolm Bernard had committed to the program.
Grad transfer from FAMU, Malcolm Bernard (6'6, Guard) has committed to play his remaining year at Xavier— Scott Golden (@HoopExchange) July 18, 2016
Bernard is immediately eligible and started 27 games for the Rattlers. His 3.6% steal percentage was top 50 in the country, and makes him a perfect fit for the Musketeers, who finished 61st in the nation as a team in steal percentage last season.
Bernard averaged 14.4 points and 7.0 rebounds per game last season, and was named Second Team All-MEAC.
The Musketeers have two scholarships remaining for this coming season, so they may not be done yet.
