The Seton Hall Pirates opened their season with a 91-70 victory at Walsh Gym over local foe Fairleigh-Dickinson on Friday night.

It was a back and forth affair for much of the first half, as the Knights flirted with taking the lead, but never did after the 15-minute mark. Once the second half began, Seton Hall put the clamps down, leading by as many as 14 en route to their fifth-straight season opening victory.

Fairleigh-Dickinson’s Preseason All-NEC guard Darien Anderson had a strong showing with (###) points

It seems to be a part of every recap or preview we’ve written about Seton Hall since Isaiah Whitehead, Khadeen Carrington, Desi Rodriguez, Ismael Sanogo, and Angel Delgado first suited up for Seton Hall as freshmen: They’re all very good at basketball.

With Whitehead’s departure to the NBA, there was a non-zero amount of worry about how the Pirates would fare offensively without their best scorer from the past two seasons.

Carrington and Delgado provided us all with the answer on Friday night, combining for 49 of Seton Hall’s 91 points. Delgado also grabbed 14 rebounds in a dominant performance on the glass.

Rodriguez had a double-double as well, with 12 points and 10 rebounds.

Graduate transfer point guard Madison Jones looked incredibly comfortable in his role with 10 assists and one turnover.

It’s just one game, but this super recruiting class from a couple years back remains super.
